Jetpack by

There are a lot of mix feelings out there about this plugin. I for one have had no problem with this plugin. It offers really simple features that can help your WordPress website. For instance the built in Publicize feature is one of my favorites. This will auto publish your blog posts to certain Social Media profiles. Also the built in analytics are good for those just starting out that are still learning.

Really Simple SSL

If you are serious about a website then you need an SSL certificate. There is nothing worse than someone visiting your site and Google telling them is not secure. What most don’t know is that certain files and code doesn’t naturally convert to an https. This simple plugin will do it all with one click and your done.

One of the fastest way to slow down your website is using pictures. If you don’t know or just don’t have time to compress every picture you use then this is for you. The free version is just fine. The only thing you have to do is click the optimize button after every fifty pictures. It also comes with other options that will help increase your site speed.

Hummingbird Page Speed Optimization

This is probably one of my favorite plugins. This is a page caching plugin and it has the biggest impact in speed. The free version comes with a huge assortment of features. Also it is extremely easy to use. After setting up this plugin you will see drastic changes in speed.

SmartCrawl SEO

SEO can be a little daunting especially on page SEO. This plugin is my choice over Yoast because of ease of use and the SEO checkup. It is a free plugin with paid features. I myself haven’t had a need for the paid version yet. It is easy to use and set up and is my recommendation for all beginners.
